Other conventional features that I have used have been the date, issue number and bar code as this enables the magazine to be scanned at an EPOS terminal or till. I decided not to challenge or develop these conventions because if I did the magazine might not scan properly at the till. 

The issue number shows the audience what number issue the magazine is if they are collecting the magazine and also it shows the audience the longevity of the magazine. The date of the magazine shows the audience if the magazine is current or not. Both the date and the issue number allow the magazine to be catalogued.
